For realizing our ambitious objectives, Bank Degroof Petercam is looking to reinforce their Private Banking department with a Credit Business Developer Private Banking  

Reporting to the Head of Business Development & Segments Private Banking (with a functional reporting line to the Chief Lending Officer), you are responsible for the development of the credit offering / credit business of Degroof Petercam Private Banking (Lombard Loans, Real Estate Loans and structured or unsecured loans), this in close and confidential collaboration with the Private Bankers and the Group Chief Lending Officer.
This function is a real mix between the client facing Private Banking Loan Origination and the regional SPOC Credit for Private Banking. Moreover, you will be in touch with fiscal, legal and risk management aspects in order to serve private banking clients in an efficient way. Therefore, you will collaborate with the different experts in-house.

Your Position

As Credit Business Developer, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Set up the Private Banking Credit Development department
  • Support (region wise) private bankers during client / prospect meetings on large and non-standard credit requests 
    • Be able to filter and give a first feasibility assessment on the requests based on the Group Lending Policy guidelines and Credit Risk Appetite framework of Degroof Petercam.
    • Accompany private bankers in client/prospect meetings to further identify opportunities and/or narrow the scope.
    • Discuss indicative credit terms, grant commercial discount (under conditions)
    • Gather key relevant information necessary for the credit request
    • Liaise, discuss with, and hand over to the (head of) credit analysts team the relevant credit applications to allow for swift analysis and final credit committee decision
    • Assist to the Credit Committee to provide contextual and commercial feedback on the credit applications.
  • Responsible for animation of credit offering within Private Banking
    • Roadshows within teams to animate offering
    • Structural presences within teams and regional offices
    • Give trainings where relevant / required
    • Identify and tackle areas of improvement (offer, process, change management)
  • Collaborate with marketing segments managers, responsible for content on credit topics
    • Present credit offering on events and webinars
    • Communicate externally on our credit offering 
    • Assure our website and My Degroof Petercam contain the right credit info 


As Regional SPOC Credit for Private Banking, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assure a smooth follow-up process for all credit related topics (requests lacking / renewals / LTV / due date monitoring / …)
  • Promote and apply the SLA between credit (or other department) and Private Banking for credit related matters, Identify and tackle areas of improvement
  • Within the credit risk appetite framework, suggest updates and revision of the Private Banking Credit offering to respond to market evolution, in cooperation with the Chief Lending Officer


Your Profile

  • You hold a Master in Finance, Economics and/or in Law with a financial background or minimum 8 years’ experience in banking sector with commercial orientation and knowledge of banking products for individuals and SMEs;
  • You have strong credit technical & end-to-end process skills: essential knowledge of the legal and regulatory credit framework both for corporate and natural persons, EU mortgage credit directive, Loan to Values standards in the banking industry, risk weighted assets impact on pricing, etc.
  • You adapt to various areas: essential knowledge of business planning, cash flow projection analysis, company valuation, asset pricing methodology, etc.
  • You are client-centric with excellent listening, communication and negotiation skills 
  • You have had commercial roles with external private clients
  • You are team player with an entrepreneurial attitude and high ethical standards
  • You are stress resistant and flexible
  • You are fluent in Dutch or French with a good working knowledge of English
  • You have a good knowledge of MS Office tools (word, excel and powerpoint)
